President Trump Continues to Deride Attorney General Sessions
One wonders why Attorney General Jefferson Sessions continues to show up for work given President Trump's loud and repeated invitations to find the door. Mayor Landrieu's Speech on Removal of the Confederate Memorials in New Orleans
As many may be aware, New Orleans has recently gone through civic debate and discord regarding the removal of four Confederate memorials and statues from public squares in that great and, in my opinion, most lovely city. Lexington has had a similar discussion, Mayor Calls for Review of Confederate Memorials Placement at Forum, as has our Commonwealth regarding the Jefferson Davis statue that stands in the rotunda of our state capitol. The present Mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu, gave what I view as a very persuasive speech regarding why it is time and right to now remove Confederate memorials from venerated locales in our cities and towns. I went to law school in New Orleans and traversed many, many times around Lee Circle without thinking once or at all about what was being said, what was being communicated by the commanding obelisk topped by a Confederate general who fought to preserve slavery. I'm not the only one, Mayor Landrieu confessed the same in this most worthwhile speech:
