Racism & Juries; Exclusion of African-Americans From Juries

Adam Liptak, the Supreme Court beat reporter for the New York Times, reports on studies demonstrating the systematic exclusion of African-Americans from trial juries in criminal cases, particularly in death penalty cases: Exclusion of Blacks from Juries Raises Renewed Scrutiny.

Particularly poignant is the determined efforts of the Caddo Parish District Attorney in Shreveport, Louisiana, who practices in a courthouse fronted by a large memorial to Confederate Veterans, those who fought to preserve slavery.

And so it goes.
